There’s a new wiki that’s tracking which of the Fortune 500 have public blogs. So far it appears that less than 20 of them are doing so, and their average share performance badly lags the rest of the F500. Why?
This is a directory of Fortune 500 companies that have business blogs, defined as: active public blogs by company employees about the company and/or its products.
The navigation sidebar to the right lists all the Fortune 500 companies. If a company name has a solid underline, it means that some information has already been entered on it, perhaps discussing web efforts that don’t seem to be proper blogs. If it’s dashed, it means that it’s a blank page awaiting your input!
The list below are the ones that we’ve found that have public blogs as defined above. But we almost certainly haven’t found them all. Please help us by entering data on those we’ve missed.
Once we’ve got this list in pretty good shape, we plan to add share price data to create a Business Blogging Index, comparing the stock performance of companies that blog with those that don’t. A spreadsheet version of that with a snapshot of this list from 12/30/05 is here.
Remember, this is a wiki, so if something isn’t right, just click on "edit this page" to fix it. If you find a Fortune 500 company that’s blogging and isn’t listed here, click on its name to the right and that will open a page (here’s an example) where you can put the info. Please assign Categories for companies that are blogging and not blogging. If the blog fits the above definition, please enter it in alphabetical order in the table below (switch to "Advanced" edit mode to edit the table).
This site began as a collaboration between Chris Anderson (Wired Magazine) and Ross Mayfield (Socialtext). A post giving the background of the project is here. Original data compiled by Wired Magazine.
