Indeed.com is a search engine for jobs, but has some cool features for
analysing jobs as well. It gives you the ability to map the
demand for certain jobs, and this translates into better tools for
figuring out how to position yourself in the future.
In 2005, Indeed.com gathered over 35 million
jobs from thousands of websites. They allow anyone to search this
archive in order to plot job trends over time.
To
get you started they ran a search for "podcast" - the New Oxford American
Dictionary’s word of the year for 2005. As shown in the graph below,
"podcast" is increasingly appearing in job postings. Compare this to
Merriam-Webster’s 2004 word of the year "blog" shown below.
