Women with Uneven Breasts More Likely to Get Cancer

Women who have uneven breasts could develop breast
cancer
,
according to new study by British researchers.

The study by scientists from Liverpool
University said if your breasts are normally close in size and you notice them
becoming asymmetrical, it is important to get this change checked with a doctor,
reported the online edition of Daily Mail.

Researchers led by Diane Scutt measured the
difference in the breast size of 504 women and charted those who remained
healthy and those who developed breast cancer. The risk of contracting the
disease rose by 50 percent for each 100 ml increase in breast difference. The
average female breast in the study was about 500 ml.

Scutt also stressed that most women have
asymmetrical breasts and less than one percent of the women studied had "perfect
breasts".

She said women should treat the finding with
caution: "One risk factor on its own should not be taken in isolation; you have
to see it in the context of a woman’s entire profile.

"If women are in a high risk category and they
are found to have breast volume asymmetry, maybe this will alert people to
monitor them more closely," Scutt said.
