A Massachusetts man answered a classified ad in the hope of becoming a porn star, but the only thing that got stripped was his bank account.
The 45-year-old Revere, Mass., bachelor told the Boston Herald he answered Diamond Productions’ ad in a weekly Boston newspaper and was cast sight unseen in an adult film shooting in Rhode Island.
He said Diamond Productions spokeswoman Melissa Johnson told him he would be paid $30,000 and experience wasn’t necessary — all he had to do was put down some deposits to help with productions costs.
About $16,000 later, the would-be star started asking questions, which is when Johnson threatened to send mobsters after him, the newspaper said.
The Diamond Productions’ phone number listed in the ad now connects to a pay chat-line.
The state was not much help. When he called the attorney general’s office he was referred to the office of consumer affairs, which in turn told him to contact the attorney general’s office.
A consumer affairs spokesman did offer some advice: never transfer money before verifying the authenticity of the business offering a product, a service or, in this case, adult entertainment stardom.
