A couple months ago I was given a couple bottles of Pherlure Cologne to test out and write a review on.  This offer came shortly after posting an article on the Impact Lab where Pherlure was described as "liquid panty remover".

Pherlure is a cologne that uses an exclusive pheromone, Di-Dehydroepiandrosterone.  It has been billed as a product that will help you get more attention from the opposite sex.  Other reviews says it increased smiles, flirting, calls, action.

We have tested the cologne several times now with mixed results.

Perhaps I believed a bit too much in the hype, thinking women would somehow instantly stop their cars, get out, and walk over to me.  Or that they would somehow make their way up to me in a crowded movie theater and ask me to join them in a back room.  Well, that never happened.

I remember thinking "I wish I knew what the range of this stuff was."  Does it work at 10 feet, 20 feet, 50 feet?  Would it help if I brushed up against someone?  Would it work better if I was better looking?

Still no real answer to these questions, although my guess is that it always helps to be better looking.

Our testing took place in office settings, not social settings, so the idea of testing the likelihood of us gaining the attention of someone who is already predisposed to finding a date was not part of our test group.  My guess is that this would get a positive reaction, but I have no empirical test data to verify this assumption.

However, our testing did yield some results.

First, the cologne smells great.  I like wearing it because I enjoy the smell.  While the smell seemed rather intense to me, no women ever commented on it, which indicated the smell was registering on a different level than other colognes which did attract comments.

Second, we don’t know if this was just us hoping for positive results, but feedback from our testers was that they did detect what they thought was more eye contact, a few extra smiles, easier conversations.  For some people that may be all that is necessary to move to the next level of intimacy.

And finally, a rather strange thing happened to me.  I noticed that young girls in the range of 8-12 tended to want to stand next to me.  While I enjoy talking to young kids, this wasn’t exactly the crowd I was hoping to attract.  There was a striking noticeable difference in the Pherlure days vs the non-Pherlure days.

So is this a product worth buying?  At $49 its a rather expensive cologne.  But, knowing what I know now and even though I can’t give it a glowing report, I would still buy it again.  But I’d have a more reasonable set of expectations going into it. – - Archimedes
