Wilmot Enterprises Inc. (DBA Ultra Mount Displays) was founded to sell a product filling a gap in the sports jersey display market. Founder Jon Wilmot had received a Walter Payton football jersey as a gift from his wife. Jon wanted to display the jersey and began researching sports jersey display alternatives. He found frames and display cases but was discouraged by the cost, ranging from $200 to $500 or more. So Wilmot, whose day job is in insurance, began experimenting with potential jersey mounting designs. A key criteria was to develop a solution that cost $30 or less at a retail level. It also needed to be visually appealing and easy to install. As a result the patent pending Ultra Mount Jersey Display was developed and made available to the public for sale in May 2005.
