Introducing the Entrepreneurial Standards Forum

Knowing that as many as 90 percent of all new businesses fail in the first year, many potential entrepreneurs never get started. Now, two Denver-area software engineers are applying MySpace principles to help those folks be more successful.

MySpace is one of several online social networking sites popular with mostly young people, musicians and artists looking for a cheap way to market themselves.

They have created the Entrepreneurial Standards Forum Web site at www.ES2Forum.com, which offers an online benchmark survey that promises to show you where your business is strong and where you need to spend more time and money to keep from failing.

A regional venture capital/angel investment group already uses the benchmark survey to screen potential financial recipients, said Jonathan Shuster, executive director of the Entrepreneurial Standards Forum. Shuster declined to name the investor group.

"We’re looking at facilitating the connection – the right angel with the right entrepreneur," Shuster said.

With a small investment of $500 and hours of work online, Shuster and partner Kevin Johansen now are looking for new members. Taking the survey is free, but memberships to the online forum are $150 and $300, depending on how many services you are interested in, including access to experts who can help you more with your business and access to other entrepreneurs and investors.

The Forum is taking its show on the road at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, at a Rockies Venture Club meeting at the Denver Marriott City Center, 1701 California St., in Denver. For more information, check out the ES2Forum Web site.
