There are many dimensions to the exciting times of buying a new business.  This course is intended to step you through each step of the process starting with how to select the right business, to researching the market and competition, to understanding the value of what you will be purchasing, to legal aspects of the purchase, to finding money for the acquisition.
Each of the Boot Camps produced by the DaVinci Institute include rich interactive exchanges between the attendees and the instructors who are topic experts and leading thinkers in the business community.

INSTRUCTOR:  Gary D. Williams

Gary D. Williams, CBI, has been a Business Intermediary since 1987 specializing in the sale of business to business companies (manufacturing, distribution and business services) valued at one million dollars and above. He received his Mechanical Engineering degree with honors from Virginia Tech and he also holds an MBA with an emphasis in finance from the University of Colorado at Denver. Gary’s prior work experience includes positions with Ingersoll Rand in their Gas Compressor Division before becoming the Western Division Manager of Tidewater Compression Services. He earned his Certified Business Intermediary designation from the International Business Brokers Association and he is a member of the M & A Source and the Colorado Association of Business Intermediaries. Gary and his wife, Pat, have owned several businesses which give him a unique insight into the buying and selling process. He is active in a variety of community organizations including Rotary where he served as Past President of the Denver Cherry Creek Rotary Club. Gary is recognized as an expert witness in the areas of business sales, acquisitions and valuations and he has spoken to a variety of organizations on these topics. 
 

INSTRUCTOR:  David Tolson

SPEAKER: David Tolson is the founder and CEO of CapitalValue.  David has a long history of working with small businesses in Colorado and brings 13 years of experience in sales, operations, acquisitions, and value creation. Prior to founding CapitalValue, David worked in Colorado?s high-tech community as the lead Business Development officer for NeoCore, iWitness, and IQ3G, where he was primarily responsible for growth strategies and strategic planning.

David also created the first successful strategic business unit in J.D. Edwards 22 year history by exceeding the business unit quota by 330%. David is a graduate of Colorado State University and earned an MBA (emphasis in finance) from the University of Colorado, where he was awarded the Beta Gamma Sigma designation for outstanding scholastic achievement. 
Mr. Tolson is a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers, which is the leading valuation / appraisal organization for the appraisers of small and medium sized businesses in the United States.  He has been awarded the AIBA (Accredited by the Institute of Business Appraisers) designation.  The AIBA designation is awarded to those candidates who have successfully completed vigorous educational and testing requirements and are then certified by a highly critical peer review process.  Mr. Tolson is among 80 AIBA?s in the United States, and is among roughly 500 people who have received designations from the prestigious IBA.
 

INSTRUCTOR:  Lyle Wallace

Lyle Wallace is and attorney for the firm of Minor & Brown. Lyle represents clients in the areas of private mergers and acquisitions, business growth and tax planning, and real estate. Lyle has been involved in more than forty transactions over the past two years, resulting in more than $150,000,000 of enterprise value to the firm’s clients.

Prior to joining the MB team in 2004, Lyle practiced in the environmental and natural resources practice group of a large international law firm.  Lyle completed his undergraduate work in Government and Politics at George Mason University and did his graduate work in Environmental Policy at Colorado State University.  Lyle graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law with an emphasis in Environmental Law.  While in law school, Lyle was the Chairman of the Honor Board, President of Phi Delta Phi, a member of the Moot Court Board, and practiced as a member of the EARTHLAW legal clinic.

Lyle is an active speaker and author on business and natural resources related topics, including contributions to the Colorado Bar Association publication The Colorado Lawyer and the American Bar Association publication Environment, Energy and Resources Year in Review.
 

INSTRUCTOR:  Bruce D. Dawson

Bruce D Dawson is the President of Liquid Capital of Colorado.
