Fractal Furniture Has 23 Drawers

fractal-drawers.jpg

Now You Have A Space For All Sizes Of Stuff

While we’re not mathematicians enough here to know if the name “Fractal Furniture” really applies to this poly-drawer cube, we are space-craving urbanites enough to desire one. The art project, conceived by Takeshi Miyakawa, turns a big wooden block into an überstorage device. From the name, Fractal 23, we infer that it has no fewer than 23 drawers. In an effort to use every bit of space in the Fractal, there are even a couple of holes up top that you can plunk things in.

Tote Your Tot in Style

toteatot.gif

With summer upon us, families are traveling all over. Make the journey a bit easier with a TOTEaTOT!

Navigating a small child through airports and train stations is rarely an enjoyable experience. Especially when little ones grow tired, the crankiness can really wear on a mom trying to get the family to its destination in a timely manner. Not to mention luggage, strollers, car seats and the rest of the family, bring a toddler into traveling can seem like a recipe for disaster!

Cobra Headquarters or Solar Shade

 solar-shade.jpg

Surprisingly this isn’t a picture of Cobra headquarters in the new G.I. Joe movie — the Veil Solar Shade might one day grace the schoolyards of some Australian elementary schools. A concept from design firm Büro North, the Veil has a couple of cool things going for it: First, it automatically rotates during the day to ensure the “hood” is always pointed at the sun. Second, it provides a cozy shady spot.

A new study of homeless youth suggests that treating substance abuse and mental health problems may not be enough to help get teens off the streets.

Future Energy Policy - Breaking Free of Oil

Dr. Robert Zubrin on the Business News Network

In his book “Energy Victory: Winning the War on Terror by Breaking Free of Oil,” world-renowned engineer and best-selling author Dr. Robert Zubrin lays out a bold plan for breaking the economic stranglehold that the OPEC oil cartel has on our country and the world. Zubrin presents persuasive evidence that our decades-long relationship with OPEC has resulted in the looting of our economy, the corruption of our political system, and now the funding and protection of terrorist regimes and movements that are committed to our destruction.

Dr. Zubrin will present this topic on June 2, 2008 at the Night with a Futurist in Colorado.

qubies.jpg

Qubies

There are so many amazing milestones that occur during baby’s first year, one of which is their graduation to eating solid food. However, fascination soon turns to contempt when you spend hours cooking and pureeing wonderful but weird-colored meals and you can’t manage to pour them into the individual sections of the ice-cube tray! Or worse, you try and get the cubes of frozen mush out and the whole ice-cube tray shatters.

The Sex Life of Slugs Hots Up the Internet

Rare footage of two slugs mating from a nature documentary

No, we’re not talking about software bugs (though those viruses can indeed still rear their heads), but good old insects. There are, naturally, numerous scientifically minded sites like bugbios.com throughout the Web, but insects are also finding staring roles in the online entertainment world.

As is true with so much on the Internet, sex is what’s generating interest.

More than three million people have watched a YouTube video documenting the mating rituals of leopard slugs whereby two entwined slugs suspend themselves from a branch and fertilise each other in mid-air.
