“A terrible thing happened to America on the way to the future. However, as H.G. Wells observed a century ago, the great events and personalities of the past have not altered the course of history; rather, they have largely served to either accelerate of retard the long-term forces of change,” observes world renowned David Pearce Snyder, whose impressive 30-year track record and million-item database of trends and projections enables him to create detailed scenarios of the most probable economic, technologic and social realities of the future. As a consulting futurist he often is called to discuss in detail the operating environments of specific industries, institutions and professions. He enlivens his forecasts with insights and anecdotes gathered from over twenty years as lifestyles editor of The Futurist magazine. Snyder uses his “instant pre-plays” of the most probably future to distinguish short-term fads from long-term trends, and to separate conventional thinking from strategic thinking. In his talk on the evening of May 2nd, David Pearce Snyder will explore the long-term promise of the 21st Century, and bring his insights home to the Austin audience. He is the editor/co-author of five books, and has appeared on Nightline, the Today Show, CNN and MSNBC.
Members of the press are welcome to attend the May 2nd presentation and Mr. Snyder will make time available for interviews during the day of May 3rd, please contact Paul Schumann to arrange a time.
