Farms of the future could be high-rise buildings with space for thousands of animals and acres of crops with barns and even a slaughterhouse, New Scientist magazine said on Wednesday.

The futuristic farm, called Deltapark, is the brainchild of inventors at the Innovation Network for Rural Areas, a think tank established by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture.

It is designed to improve productivity and animal welfare and to take up less country space than conventional farms.
