British men now spend more time using the phone than women, a survey published Monday found, possibly because mobile phones satisfy the male love of techno toys.

The Guardian/ICM nationwide poll of just over 1,000 adults found that British men who own a mobile spend 66 minutes every weekday on their mobile or fixed-line phone, compared with 53 minutes before the mobile phone revolution.

Women’s phone use has fallen to 55 minutes per weekday from 63 minutes.
