Bill Gates, the world’s richest man is also the most generous donor to good causes, according to Business Week magazine’s list of the top 50 US philanthropists.



Microsoft founder Gates, who is said to be worth more 55 billion dollars despite the technology slump, has given or pledged 25.6 billion dollars since 1998, said the report. That was four times as much as Intel co-founders Gordon Moore and his wife Betty who were second on 6.6 billion dollars.



Out of the top 15 US givers, Gates and seven others made their fortunes in the 1990s tech boom.
