Announcing a talk to reveal what it’s like to have direct nerve communication with his wife, UK cyborg professor Kevin Warwick has stated support for Transhumanist ideas.



“The step to cyborgs offers humans a natural, technological upgrade in the technological world we have instigated,” he says. “I feel it will be the next evolutionary step. Indeed we will need to do it if we are to compete with intelligent machines.”



Warwick is known for several cyborg experiments, including having electrodes surgically implanted in his arm so that he could control an intelligent artificial hand.



He also undertook the world’s first direct nerve communication with his wife after they both had implants surgically inserted in their arms.
