Just because a deer is moving doesn’t necessarily mean it’s alive. Move over, Bambi, Robo Deer has arrived. While decoys as a means of catching poachers and those hunting out of season are nothing new, the latest version moves its head and tail, and is now being used by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officers throughout the state.

Similar robotic deer are used in other states, from Oregon to North Carolina.

In North Carolina, Robo Deer has been so successful that officers have caught up to 16 shooters in a single afternoon, and typically bring a bus to transport wrongdoers when they’re using the deer.

So far, Robo Deer has been run over with pick-up trucks; tackled, attacked with pistols, knives, muzzle loaders and even bows and arrows.
