A car wash manufacturer has started Britain’s first horse wash.

Cornish company THI UK is hoping to see it taken up by professional stables across the country.

Michael Fox, factory manager at the Redruth-based company, said the gadget was similar to the car wash sprays found on garage forecourts.

“You bring the horse to the machine and tether it up. It has an adjustable spray with shampoo, cold and warm water. If you want to put a conditioner in it you can do that as well. It is basically a water-saving device,” he said.

The “equi-wash” can be adapted for free usage or, like car washes, it will accept tokens or coins as payment.
