Sir Isaac Newton, the eminent British scientist and pioneer of the theory of gravity, predicted the world will end in 2060, according to a study of manuscripts at the Israeli National Library.

The doomsday prediction was found in theological texts by the physicist discovered by a Canadian researcher at King’s College in Halifax, said the director of the Jerusalem library’s archives, Raphael Weiser.

Outside of his scientific work, Newton (1642-1727) was extremely interested in the Bible and eschatology, the branch of theology concerned with the end of the world.
