Betterhumans: The adult human brain may be a source of neural stem cells that can help treat brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s, or even brain injuries from stroke, epilepsy and trauma.

Research led by Steve Goldman, a professor of neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College, has shown that glial progenitor cells are also capable of producing neurons.

These new cells could be used to restore damaged or destroyed brain tissue.
