A new craze for sporting Saddam Hussein’s hairstyle has been reported by barbers in northern India.
Youngsters in Jalandhar, a city with a fashion-conscious reputation, are asking hairdressers to make their moustaches and hair like that of the Iraqi dictator.
Varinder Aujla, editor of the local Mission newspaper, says he was offered a Saddam-style moustache when he visited the barber.
He told The Times of India: “My barber claimed that six boys had insisted on having that moustache.”
The journalist added that the barber had watched television programmes and had collected newspaper photographs of Saddam to achieve perfection.
