A new system will allow people to control a more flexible and functional prosthetic arm with their thoughts.

The UK’s National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts has granted a £65,000 (about US$109,000) award to a UK company called Advanced Control Research for developing a system that uses myoelectric technology to transfer thought processes into movement.

Many people who have lost an arm still have some movement in surrounding muscles.

The ACR system interprets the electrical signals generated from muscle movement and translates them into movements of a prosthesis.
