The BBC is reporting that the London police have detained three people, for allegedly beating the roulette wheel at a London casino. Using a cell phone, a computer and a laser scanner, they were able to predict where the roulette ball would land, winning more than 1.5 million dollars in the process.

Two men and a woman won the money playing roulette at the Ritz Casino club in Piccadilly on 16 March.

Police were called after the casino reviewed security video footage – they have confiscated the winnings and the suspects’ mobile phones.

Two Serbian men, aged 38 and 33, and a Hungarian woman aged 32 have been released on bail until 30 March.

The casino is a high-profile venue in the former ballroom of The Ritz Hotel.

It opened as a casino in 1978, and is an exclusive, privately-owned members-only club. A spokesman said they had no comment to make about the arrests.
