A Tampa man was freed on bond Wednesday after being accused of trying to rent out a home he didn’t own to 10 different people, collecting about $8,600 in security deposits.
Henry Rudolph Beckman, 52, was charged with organized fraud and grand theft after placing a “House for Rent” sign in front of the Town ‘N Country home or placing classified advertisements in The Tampa Tribune between late June and late August, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
The home owner was unaware of Beckman’s activity, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Beckman reportedly had 10 different people sign leases for the home, and collected security deposits from each. He then would not respond to calls from the prospective tenants to confirm their move-in dates, police said.
Beckman surrendered Tuesday at the Orient Road Jail and was released early Wednesday after posting $24,000 bond, according to jail records.
