A boy had been balancing on the edge of a platform at the Yorckstrasse station when he fell in front of an approaching local train.
Two wagons rolled over him before the train came to a halt, the Berliner Zeitung reports.
But the boy wasn’t touched by any part of the train and was pulled out by waiting passengers unhurt.
Sandra Kinzinger, spokeswoman for the local train services, called the incident “a connection of fortunate circumstances for the boy.”
And the paper quotes an expert saying a grown-up would have no chance of such a lucky escape.
“There isn’t more than eight inches of room under the trains”, he explained.
