The e-mail revolution is taking a drastic toll on office workers’ health, say experts.
Instead of walking to colleagues’ desks to pass on information, many send a computer message.
This means crucial physical activity is lost, making staff even more inactive and unhealthy.
British heart specialist Dr Dorian Dugmore said: “We are losing millions of hours of exercise through the explosion of e-mail.”
He said desk workers tended to exercise far less than the recommended minimum of 40 minutes a day.
Dr Dugmore said the average person would take the escalator from the train station, take the lift to the right floor and then sit at the desk all day.
