The Kircher Society has uncovered a patent for a watch that tells you how much time you have left to live, based on your life expectancy.

200604141325Objects meant to remind us that our time on earth is fleeting, have all but disappeared from our culture. Which is why we were delighted recently to discover a patent filed in 1991 for the Life Expectancy Watch:

A time monitoring apparatus for monitoring and displaying an approximate time remaining in a lifespan of an individual, said monitoring apparatus programmed to decrement time units from an actuarially determined lifespan and to shift a projected lifespan value as the individual grows older.

The man who holds this patent is named David Kendrick, and according to the patent application, he’s from Berkshire, NY. If anyone knows Mr. Kendrick, please let him know that we would like to get in touch with him.
