Hopping on one leg 50 times a day can help women beat bone-wasting condition osteoporosis, a study found.
Tests over a six-month period showed a stronger hip and heel in the leg used for hopping, but not in the other leg.
The exercise also helped with balance and muscle use — two factors which can prevent falls in old age.
Now further tests on women aged 18 to 45 are planned at Loughborough University, Leics.
The uni’s Dr Katherine Brooke-Wavell said hopping could improve bone strength without diet or hormones being a factor.
