A Louisiana company is challenging a taste test that indicated U.S. troops in Iraq prefer Middle Eastern dry milk to the American product.

Only a handful of soldiers in Kuwait…

The head of Diversified Foods of Metairie, La., seeking a contract to supply milk for the troops, charged the test between his product and that from Public Warehousing of Kuwait was unfair, the New Orleans Times-Picayune said.

Tab Damiens, the Diversified chief executive officer, said only a handful of soldiers in Kuwait took the test, procedures were contradictory and the Pentagon exaggerated on how much it saved to stay with the Kuwait firm, the newspaper account said.

Another taste test was being sought.
