A HIV drug sold in Australia has been recalled in Europe and other countries due to contamination.

Drug company Roche is seeing whether batches of Viracept have been sold to patients in Australia, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Six patients in Europe reported that their Viracept 250mg prescriptions emitted a strange odour.

An analysis of the tablets showed they contain higher than normal levels of methane sulfonic acid ethylester.
