Motorola has announced that it will split into a couple of publicly traded entities in order to separate its loss-making handset division from its other businesses. This news has been received positively by investors, seeing the Motorola share price soaring more than 10%.

Hopefully the cellular business from Motorola will not shut down, as having healthy competition is always good for the consumers since it keeps companies on their toes all the time and not to take the customer for granted by monopolizing an entire industry.
