Blogging plays a significant role in the lives of women
A BlogHer survey conducted by Compass Partners found that the blogosphere is playing a significant role in the lives of US women.
The survey estimates that 36.2 million female US Internet users actively participate in blogs every week with 15.1 million publishing at least one post a week and 21.1 reading and commenting at least weekly.
Over 40% of the women surveyed considered blogs a reliable source
More than 40% of the women surveyed considered blogs a reliable source of advice and information; 50% said blogs influenced their purchasing decisions and 24% said they watched less TV because of blogs.
“The blogosphere is increasingly becoming the digital ‘kitchen table’ where individuals can sit down to have an authentic conversation about all the topics that affect their daily lives – from household products to presidential candidates,”said Elisa Camahort Page, BlogHer co-founder and COO.
“Blogging is an integral part of [women’s] daily lives and a key source of information and entertainment,” said Susan Wright, managing director of Compass Partners.
“The fact that their readers find them highly credible and that this joint participation has achieved significant scale, presents proactive marketers with a measurable opportunity to engage with a highly desirable consumer demographic.”
