MimicCremeTM, the all vegetarian real cream substitute by Green Rabbit, LLC, was anointed Best of Show today by VegNews, a vegetarian lifestyle magazine. The 2008 Expo West, one of the largest natural product trade shows, was held in March in Anaheim, CA.

MimicCreme is naturally all natural. It is soy free, Kosher, gluten free, and lactose free. But, it is not nut free: MimicCreme’s primary ingredients are cashews and almonds.

MimicCreme comes in three versions: unsweetened, sweetened (with sugarcane – yum!), and sweetened with a natural non-sugar sweetener. The sweetened MimicCreme is supposedly a great ice cream substitute, but all versions are said to be creamy and great for use in any food where cream is normally use.

The Expo West Best in Show Award was not MimicCreme’s first; it also won the Best New Consumable Product Showcase Award at the Annual 2007 NACDS Marketplace Show In Boston. NACDS is the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.

MimicCreme has been used by some of “the most demanding chefs,” according to the MimicCreme website, and they all agreed that MimicCreme tasted just like real cream. I will say the site offers some mighty tasty looking recipes .

Very convenient to order online, MimicCreme does not need refrigeration until opened and the product has a one-year shelf life. If I can use it in my coffee, it won’t last more than a week!
