Jessica Biel making a difference
Yesterday famed actress Jessica Biel and her father, Jon Biel, officially launched Make the Difference Network (MTDN) at www.MTDN.com. Her work has caught the attention of other well-known celebrities who have joined her effort.
Unlike other efforts in the past, nonprofits can join MTDN for free and they get to keep 100 percent of all donations collected through MTDN.
Social entrepreneur Jon Biel, in collaboration with cause marketing evangelist Kent McBride, co-founded MTDN to create a cause-oriented social network that connects nonprofit organizations with caring individuals and businesses. MTDN increases the visibility of nonprofit organizations by empowering potential donors to search, select and fund these organizations’ specific “Wishes” and then see the results of their giving.
The MTDN online community has already attracted more than 150 nonprofit organizations, including the DaVinci Institute, working toward fulfilling more than 250 “Wishes.” When a nonprofit registers for free, MTDN gives them the ability to easily promote their story through a powerful, eye-catching multi-media profile including pictures, videos and blogs, and then build specific “Wishes” for free. MTDN then acts as an easy-to-use, fun online hub for people to locate and show their support for social causes that touch them the most. MTDN is also a powerful cause marketing tool for businesses to connect with and support their favorite nonprofits.
“We built MTDN to connect people who share the same passions for making a difference and to educate, motivate and inspire greater social entrepreneurism through stronger life-changing communities,” said Jon Biel, CEO and co-founder of MTDN. “We believe we can all do more than is currently being done to improve the quality of life on our planet and we’ve witnessed –firsthand – that people and organizations that do good, feel good. We’re honored to be of service in helping others find and fund their passions.”
Some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities are also getting involved to help spread the word about MTDN through their own nonprofit organizations. Dwayne Johnson, chairman and founder of The Rock Foundation (http://www.djrockfoundation.org), is using MTDN to promote his organization that provides programs designed to educate, empower and enrich the lives of children worldwide through youth physical fitness and obesity prevention programs.
Dwayne Johnson commented, “MTDN is an excellent resource for people of all ages to find a specific cause or project that they believe in and enables them to begin making a difference no matter how small or large.”
, one of the first nonprofits to join the community, coordinates and facilitates teen volunteers in giving elderly women complimentary facials and makeovers at nursing homes. They currently are looking to raise funds to put their teen volunteers through a leadership summit and to help with the shipping costs associated with getting makeup into their chapter’s locations around the country.
Rachel Doyle, President and Founder, GlamourGals said, “Make The Difference Network allows grassroots nonprofits like GlamourGals to be exposed to new donors, supporters and sponsors. What makes this so exciting is that this community can reach out in multiple ways supporting GG wishes, adding inspiring comments or even making critical donations to our programs.”
