Appeal Court Upholds Guilty Verdict for The Pirate Bay Founders

After being found guilty of copyright infringement and sentenced to large fines and prison terms, the founders of the popular BitTorrent tracker the Pirate Bay have appealed their verdict. The result: another “guilty” verdict and slightly reduced prison sentences, but even larger fines.

Originally, the four founders of the Pirate Bay were all sentenced to one year in jail, and a collective fine of $3.6 million.

Now, the Swedish Appeal Court has announced its decision: Peter Sunde’s sentence was reduced to eight months in prison, Fredrik Neij must serve 10 months, while Carl Lundström’s sentence was reduced to four months in prison. All of them must pay a share of a new, $6.5 million fine…
