Capital Gate, the iconic leaning building in Abu Dhabi, reached halfway point. The building, designed by international architects RMJM, will lean 18 degrees westward, 14 degrees more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

A young Sweden based architecture firm Visiondivision believes in strong concepts and constantly re-investigating their role as architects by always pushing the limits of their field of work and the strategies of their design. Tornado, is an entry for an opera competition in Taiwan which was a collaboration with Markus Wagner, a member of Svensk Standard. This project is reminscent of the Dubai Dynamic tower by David Fisher – the building in motion, both projects are really impressive! (Pics)

While we in the U.S. are looking forward to Spring’s budding flora, 124 miles north of the Artic Circle in Sweden, lies at least one more month of winter. It is here, in the town of Jukkasjärvi (“meeting place”) in the Swedish Lapland, that world famous architects, sculptors, and designers submit their designs to the IceHotel in hopes that they will be chosen to contribute to its annual building… even though their contributions will melt after four or five months.

Designed by NY-based architects Arakawa & Gins (who, between you and me, need to pick some different colors for their website), these units are packed full of all sorts of hurdles only the youthful could put up with: uneven floors, balcony doors you have to crawl through, spherical rooms, blinding colors, transparent showers – the list goes on.
