What Would We Be Driving If Art Students Designed Cars?

Cars Designed By Art Students

Students at the Royal College of Art in London were tasked with dreaming up what shape light, economical cars could take in this day and age. What did they come up with? Vehicles that are quirky and awesome – though quite impractical in many cases – and decked out with cool lights, color schemes and pictures of the robo-rockers from Daft Punk. Who cares if these cars couldn’t exist? It’d make for one good-looking future in my book.

Top 10 Photos of the Week

Top 10 Photos of the Week

Little Howie didn’t mind that he was part of a failed genetic experiment. He was determined
to get people to like him even if it took every fuzzy leg on his body

The photos this week tend to be geekier than normal. In fact, they come in around 7.8 on the “geekter scale”. To some that may be alarming, but its still fun to make fun of geeks… well, unless you are one, and have numbers constantly running through your head, and wear your lipstick in the inside of your lips, and still laugh at all the wrong things… then, we kinda still want to make fun of you.

It isn’t that hard to imagine music coming from shoes, but there is usually a person wearing the shoes and using the shoes to make the music. Still an innovative person, Ingrid Bachmann, created the Symphony For 54 Shoes out of 27 pairs of recycled shoes.

Lamps With A 3D Effect

Lamps With A 3D Effect

Marcus Tremento is has an original lighting idea here. He’s created LD Sconces, intriguing lighting fixtures that conjure up uncanny 3D effects with glowing wire. Bending neon-like pieces of cool-running electroluminescent wire into familiar shapes and then combining them with a mirror-like backdrop, the artist proves himself to be quite the illusionista.

Retired Subway Cars Used For London Artists

Retired Subway Cars Used For London Artists

Young London artists looking for cheap studio space in an expensive city are turning their eyes toward subway cars – though those eyes would be looking up, not down. That’s because these retired subway cars are actually on top of a warehouse-turned-art-gallery in Shoreditch, London, where they offer a sparse, multi-purpose space for artists who pay an oh-so-cheap $30 a month. Auro Foxcroft, the mind behind Village Underground, even got a sweet deal on the cars: £800 for four of them.

Sometimes its just the fact that we don’t know what it is
that explains so much of life around us

Occasionally great photos have a dual meaning. Sometimes they even have a dual purpose. But this week is different. Every photo this week will have a minimum of triple meaning and triple purpose, and its up to you to figure it out. We are swinging for the fence. Let us know if we succeeded.

WEEE Man Symbolizes Each Persons Environmental Waste

 WEEE Man

People around the United Kingdom have been in for a big surprise. A seven meter three tonne metal man has been wandering in their midst. Who (or what) is he and why is he here? Is the Earth about to stand still? Hardly, but like Klaatu he brings a message to which we should really listen!
