Student Inventors Keep The Pooping Seagulls Off Their Boat

Boat-loving seagulls will have to poop elsewhere if a team of high school students have anything to say about it. The team, named Vanish Productions, recently won the top regional prize in New Zealand’s Young Enterprise contest for their Ultrasonic Bird Repeller.

World’s Smallest Spy Camera

World’s Smallest Spy Camera

Spy Camera With DVR

We don’t like buying the idea of swallowing tiny cameras down our gut. But when medical scientists come up with strangest of illness-detecting aids like the swallowable cameras, we stand but with no alternative. This tiny ping-pong-ball-like camera here is no med-gadget, and so we don’t intend the former; it’s a 128 MB Flash Memory spy cam. Hyped as the world’s smallest spy camera with a DVR, this is capable of seeing you secure through the gravest of security predicaments. The spy camera with DVR comes equipped with a rechargeable Li-Polymer Battery and USB connectors, it captures images at 30 FPS, supports an external Micro SD card, all this at 320×240 resolutions. Energy Seed Concept Uses Spent Batteries

Energy Seed Concept Uses Spent Batteries

 Energy Seed Lamp

I threw away two batteries yesterday. I know, I know-it’s almost the same as chopping down like five old-growth oak trees or something, but it was just so damn easy. And what else are you gonna do with dead batteries? That’s exactly why I am jazzed about this Energy Seed concept by Sungwoo Park. You collect all the batteries that no longer power your digital cameras, baby toys and TV remotes, and you deposit them in the base of this lamp. The lamp then glows, because even a mostly spent battery will be able to power an ultra-efficient light source.

Peugot’s Concept Cars Of The Future

Puegot’s Concept Cars Of The Future

If Gundam mated with Will Smith’s Audi in I, Robot, the offspring would resemble these futuristic concept cars from European brand Peugeot. The car-like vehicles were all entries in the 2008 Peugeot Design Contest. Designers were asked by organizers to create vehicles for that ambiguous but tantalizing “city of the future.” Areas of focus included environmental awareness, “social harmony,” interactive mobility and efficiency. As you can see in the “Blade” vehicle above, efficiency is improved with the wind turbine that designer Ying Hui Choo added to charge an on-board electric battery.

Pen That Also Charges Your Phone

Pen That Also Charges Your Phone

Keep your friends close, but your batteries even closer

Mobile chargers, small devices with batteries that you can plug a dying cellphone into, have been around for a while. But because they serve just one purpose, they haven’t caught on that well. People need to remember to carry them around with them so when the time is right, they have it on hand. Easier said than done.
