Typically Mother Nature decides when we get to see a rainbow. College professor and artist Michael Jones McKean isn’t exactly the patient type, so he made a machine that generates two-story rainbows with the flip of a switch.  (Pics)

The Rainbow Eucalyptus

Enter the rainbow realm

There seem to be no end of things tagged with the word rainbow in nature.  Well, here is another – the Rainbow Eucalyptus.  With a quite spectacular trunk it is both sad and surprising that its main use is the production of pulpwood, to make white paper. Go figure.

Jellyfish expert Lisa Gershwin found a new species off Tasmania that has a rainbow attached! It’s not bioluminescent, but shows reflected light in lovely colors. And it doesn’t sting. The unnamed jelly is very fragile, and will fall apart as soon as it touches a net, so don’t even try…
