Harion Glass Speakers
Appearances are always deceptive, what we see isn’t always how it’s meant to be. Similarly, this speaker setup made in glass isn’t at all fragile like the glass itself.

The average resident of Denver’s future is more likely to be elderly, more likely to be Latino, more likely to hail from a filled-in Stapleton neighborhood, and more likely to have a rapid transit pass in a back pocket.
Following close behind on the sidewalk will be the Less Likelys. A typical Denver dweller will be less likely to drive a car, less likely to work all day on an urban office block, and less likely to have a traditional public school education.

This XPod active speaker is so small, you could carry it around in your pocket and hardly know it’s there. Just a third of an inch thick, the three-inch wide enclosure contains a couple of speakers and a minuscule 2-channel 770mW amplifier. It charges up with USB, and look at that little slot in the back – just the right size to let you use a coin to prop it up.

Recently, Thomas Frey and his wife Deb were relaxing at a new shopping center in the Denver area. Along the sidewalks a series of speakers cast a rather pleasant musical backdrop to the shopping experience. Thomas Frey, Executive Director of the DaVinci Institute went onto talk about what he called, ‘The coming demise of the retail storefront.’ He described what happened next, ” At one point an interesting song began playing. I reached for my iPhone, and used a program called Shazam to “listen” to the music, revealing the name of the song and the artist. I was then able to purchase the song on my iPhone and download it directly to the phone for later use. The nature of this transaction is quite revealing in that it gives us clues as to what our shopping experiences will be like in the future.”

From the “how the hell did we miss this” department comes word that the U.S. military is hard at work creating “thought helmets” for its soldiers. If fully realized, this mind-interfacing piece of gear would allow for what plebeians would call magic, and Arthur C. Clark would call basic telepathy. The “good” news is the Army believes telepathic communication between soldiers in the field is entirely possible, some day. The bad news is that “some day” is decades away for this incredibly ambitious plan-this ain’t no video game controller, folks.

This musical beanie is a blast. Pop it on your head, plug it into your iPod or any MP3 player, and you’ll be amazed at the sound quality from the integral speakers that fit snugly over your ears. Wearing a hat with headphones is a near impossibility, and ear buds (aside from being fairly uncomfortable) have a tendency to fall out or tug at your lugs in a very uncomfortable manner. This top hat cures all the woes of listening to music on the go, and just to add icing to the cake, other people can’t hear that horrifying squeaky wail of whatever it is you’re listening to.

Now Listen Here!
In recent years the headphone market has seen quite a boom, most likely thanks to the iPod and the hundreds of others of MP3 players now available. And I’m sure we’re all aware of the dangers of having your headphones (or particularly your earbuds) set too loud which can damage your eardrums. (It makes you wonder if the hearing aid market will also be seeing a boom in about 20 years.) So as an alternative to using headphones, Orbitsound would like you to consider their new T3 portable speaker which is actually designed to be worn hanging around your neck.
