The U.K. paper, the Guardian, is taking a very modern strategy and applying it to an old-school format. Starting this week the paper is going to experiment with a robot-generated print edition. The paper is to be called #Open001 and will be distributed for free every month at U.S. media and ad agency offices including Mindshare, Horizon Media and Digitas. Distribution will start with 5,000 copies.

South Korea is a connected country. There’s free WiFi just about anywhere you go, even at the airport. And if you travel a lot, you know free WiFi at an airport is nearly impossible to come by. Not only is there free WiFi everywhere, but that Internet is much, much faster than what you typically get in the U.S.

Kolibree has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its connected electric toothbrush, a product that first caught our eye at CES in January. The Paris-based company hopes to raise $70,000 by May 25, and it’s already reached $56,000 from backers at the time of this post. (Video)

Digital revenue surpassed broadcast TV this year.
Digital advertising online and via mobile crossed the $40 billion mark for the first time ever this past year, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau. Since 2004, the average growth rate has been 18 percent. And this year, digital ad revenues surpassed broadcast television for the first time.

Amazon, Trader Joe’s, and Wal-Mart are, at least experimenting with grocery delivery.
From an economic prospective, the grocery business is loaded with friction. Once a week or more, shoppers must drive to stores, traipse through aisles hunting for what they want, and stand in lines — a gigantic, continual waste of time, patience, and gasoline. Grocers, which stand between food producers and consumers, must maintain chains of stores dotted across a geographical region or across the country, and each store must be serviced by a complex logistical and transportation infrastructure. If any industry is ripe for disruption by online shopping, it should be the grocery business.
