Some Twitter users are planning to go all of Saturday without tweeting to show their displeasure.

There are fears of Twitter censorship among bloggers and activists from China, the Middle East and Latin America as new Twitter policies could allow governments to censor messages, stifling free expression.

Twitter study tracks our mood

Twitter tracks your emotions.

A large-scale study of posts on Twitter has found that no matter how grumpy people are when they wake up, and whether they stumble to their feet in Madrid, Mexico City or Minnetonka, Minn., they tend to brighten by breakfast time and feel their moods taper gradually to a low in the late afternoon, before rallying again near bedtime.

NYPD forms new unit to track troublemakers on social media sites

The NYPD has formed Facebook and Twitter units in order to track down and monitor criminals and criminal behavior on social media sites.

The New York Police Department has formed a new unit to track troublemakers who announce plans or brag about their crimes on Twitter, MySpace and Facebook.

Wow. Five years after it launched, Twitter has finally added native photo-sharing to its service. Starting now, all Twitter.com users have a camera icon that lets you add a photo to your tweet.

Images that are 3MB or less in size can be uploaded and embedded into a tweet…

“Our train bumped into something.Our carriage has fallen onto its side. Children are screaming . . . Come to help us please! Come fast!”

These were the words tweeted by a passenger on high-speed train D301 on July 23 that were clearly a cry for help. But these words also initiated a wave of unprecedented “citizen journalism” on China’s Twitter-like micro blogs.
