China tests smart-grid technology

The State Grid Corporation of China is running the smart-grid project using passive optical networking technology.

Smart-grid technology testing has begun in China hat could eventually be deployed nationwide to make the delivery of electricity more reliable and efficient. It might also serve as a way to deliver high-speed Internet, TV, and telephony to the farthest reaches of the country.

Chinese college graduates reluctant to pursue blue collar jobs

Graduates in China say no thank you to factory jobs.

Guangzhou, China, a city with a population of 15 million, is the hub of a manufacturing region where factories make everything from T-shirts and shoes to auto parts, tablet computers and solar panels. China’s one-child policy stifles innovation: Study

China’s one-child law may be stifling its citizens’ innovation.

Development of a child can greatly be influenced by the number of siblings they have. But what happens when you have an entire nation of only children? China’s one-child law indicates that the policy may be stifling its citizens’ innovative instincts because single children born under the law there are less likely to be competitive, are more pessimistic, and less inclined to take risks, according to a new study. Those were the findings of researchers from Monash University in Australia.

More than 500 people detained in China for spreading doomsday rumors

Friday, Dec. 21 is the date some say the Mayans prophesized would be the end of the world.

More than 500 people from a fringe Christian group for spreading rumors about the world’s impending end have been detained by Chinese police, China’s state media reported Tuesday.
