Happiest people live in Latin American countries.

Qatar is the richest county in the world but the world’s happiest people don’t live there.  They don’t live in Japan either, the country with the highest life expectancy.  With a chart-topping percentage of college graduates in Canada, they didn’t make the top 10 of the happiest people in the world either.

When women are faced with sexual stereotypes they make better financial decisions

Many studies have found that women tend to be more averse to risks and losses than men.

The world of business  can be brutal and competitive. People often need to take high risks with big payoffs in order to succeed. Attitudes that are risk-taking attitudes are often seen as masculine. The language used to describe such behavior is riddled with phrases like “testosterone-charged” and “cowboys”. Women are seen as being more risk averse.  And then there are articles that have asked if the financial crisis might have unfolded differently had women been in charge.

Three out of four terminal cancer patients believe a cure is possible

A large majority of patients who receive this news don’t fully comprehend it, or perhaps willfully choose to ignore it.

Often times doctors are called on to deliver bad news to patients.  And when they deliver that news it doesn’t get much worse than hearing a diagnosis of an advanced-stage cancer for which there is no cure.

Advanced phone photo taking capabilities are yours with ClearShot.

Scientific research threatened by fraud and misconduct

Scientists, like anyone else, can be prone to bias in their bid for a place in the history books.

For several years, Dirk Smeesters had spent his career as a social psychologist at Erasmus University in Rotterdam studying how consumers behaved in different situations. He studied whether color had an effect on what consumers bought or if death-related stories in the media affected how people picked products. And whether it was better to use supermodels in cosmetics advertising than average-looking women.
