The Earth has been covered by supercontinents, giant combinations of continents, many times in its past, and it will be again one day in the distant future. The next predicted supercontinent, dubbed Amasia, may form when the Americas and Asia both drift northward to merge, closing off the Arctic Ocean, researchers suggest. (video)

Neuroscience could assist soldiers in the future

Neuroscience in future military conflict, on the cutting edge of medical science should remember that their work could have other, more harmful uses.

It sounds like science fiction warfare.  But directed energy weapons that use wave beams to cause pain, and electrical brain stimulation that boosts a soldier’s combat ability are advances in neuroscience are on the horizon.

Corporate offices are going to become coworking offices in the future.

If you are a fan of coworking and are going to the SXSW this year in Austin, you might want to arrive a few days early to hit the Global Coworking Unconference Conference (formerly known as the Coworking Unconference) being held in Austin on March 8. The all-day event is geared toward owners and there will be a range of panels on starting and running a space. But at least one discussion might be of interest not only to coworking entrepreneurs but also to forward-thinking managers as well.

Study found kids’ weight, cholesterol and blood pressure helped predict the odds of a parent developing heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes over the next three decades.

When children have high cholesterol or blood pressure, their parents may have increased risks of diabetes and heart disease down the road, according to a new study.
