Average Wall Streeter makes 5.2 times more than the average New Yorker

Wall Steeters are richer and harder to find than your average New Yorker.

The Office of the New York State Comptroller each year does a deep dive into Wall Street employment and compensation. The office has released its report for 2012, and as usual Wall Street salaries trounced the average New Yorker’s.

Top female business travel trends

A quarter of women business travelers fly more now than they did five years ago.

The independent research reveals that women have their own distinct travel habits that differentiate female travelers from their male colleagues, according to new research by Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT). Twenty-five percent of women business travelers fly more now than they did five years ago and women tend to plan their business travel further in advance than men, with 39 per cent making arrangements less than four weeks in advance compared to 20 per cent of men, who tend to plan just a few days ahead.

Kickstarter is the most popular crowdfunding platform and they just broke two industry records.  According to the company’s stats page, more than five million backers have successfully funded over 50,000 creative projects on Kickstarter, cementing Kickstarter as the world’s leading crowdfunding platform.

40% of YouTube traffic is now mobile

YouTube’s mobile traffic is up 25% from last year.

YouTube seems to be the exception when it comes to getting people to concentrate long on anything on their phones and tablets. YouTube is quickly going mobile, with small screens making up 40% of its traffic now compared to 25% last year, Google said on its earnings call today. In 2011, just 6% of YouTube traffic came from mobile.

Cloud to dominate data center traffic in 2013: Study

More than two-thirds of global data center traffic will be represented by cloud-based traffic by 2017.  Cloud traffic will have grown more than fourfold from 2012 to 2017. Cloud-based traffic is already poised comprise the majority of traffic within the next few months.

Andrew Chen: In 2007, before YCombinator and AngelList had changed the industry, I worked in a nondescript office park in the heart of the venture capital industry off Sand Hill Road. Amid the leafy sprawl of buildings next to 280 and Stanford University, billions of dollars were and are invested out of the fancy offices of VC/PE firms you’ve never heard of. The whole industry has been shrouded in opaqueness since it was created decades ago, built on relationships from business schools, professional networks, and investor referrals. Nielsen-Twitter TV ratings report shows 38% increase in tweets about TV

Tweeting about TV is a large and growing phenomenon.

The first Nielsen-Twitter TV ratings report has just been released by Nielsen, showing that there has been a 38 percent increase in tweets about TV in the US over the last year — from 190 million in Q2 2012 to 263 million in Q2 2013. The number of Twitter TV authors in the US has also risen 24 percent, from 15 million to 19 million in the same period. (Infographic)
