Whenever presented with a theory like Carl Jung’s theory of personality types (which Myers and Briggs formalized into a personality test) it’s important to remember that you are in possession of a unique set of neurons whose synapses fire in unique patterns that cannot easily be slotted into one of sixteen “types” from which one can draw conclusions about your destiny. Cost of child care more than college in much of the U.S.

Putting a baby and a 4-year-old into a child care center cost more than the annual median rent in every single state.

It is no surprise to parents that child care costs are getting costlier and costlier, according to a new report.  It costs families more to put an infant in a child care center than to cover tuition and fees at a public college in more than half of the states, according to a new analysis by Child Care Aware of America, a nonprofit advocacy group focused on child care access.

World’s first Bitcoin ATM to launch in Canada

Bitcoin is an emerging digital currency that isn’t controlled by any authority such as a central bank.

The world’s first Bitcoin ATM is believed to launch in Canada this week.  CBC reports, Mitchell Demeter, co-founder of Vancouver bitcoin trading company Bitcoiniacs and part-owner of Robocoin, has invested in five such machines to be placed across Canada.

Average Wall Streeter makes 5.2 times more than the average New Yorker

Wall Steeters are richer and harder to find than your average New Yorker.

The Office of the New York State Comptroller each year does a deep dive into Wall Street employment and compensation. The office has released its report for 2012, and as usual Wall Street salaries trounced the average New Yorker’s.

Bitcoins legalized in Germany

Bitcoin is an online virtual currency that may be exchanged for goods and services from establishments that accept them.

The ministry of finance in Germany has recognized Bitcoin as a form of digital currency in the country. The four year old virtual money, Bitcoin, is now a formally recognized digital currency or “unit of account,” which can be used for private transactions in Germany.

Income flowing to the top 1% is at a record high

The economic recovery belongs to the rich. It seemed ominous in 2007 when the share of national income flowing to America’s top 1% of earners reached 18.3%: the highest since just before the crash of 1929. But whereas the Depression kicked off a long era of even income growth the rich have done much better this time round.

And with only 36.9% of companies still offering interns less that minimum wage or no compensation at all, it’s clear that relying upon unpaid interns is more damaging than many employers assume. UK’s Angel CoFund can super-charge angel syndicates with extra cash

The Angel CoFund is a government-backed fund in the UK.

Startups in the UK that are raising financing have a new route to funds in the shape of a government-backed fund which can super-charge an Angel round with extra cash. The UK government-backed fund, Angel CoFund ,is able to make initial investments of between £100,000 to £1 million into businesses, alongside syndicates of business angels. Angel CoFund launched in November 2011, and it was an early backer of Yplan, the events app which this year raised $12 million and PlayJam (a games maker for smart TVs). The fund started out investing in just some parts of the UK, but now it works nationwide. And it’s now had its first exit in its short, two year history.
