Aromafork

Some people enjoy some strange food combinations they dare not share. Whether it’s pickles and strawberries or lychee and roast beef, it would be unlikely that a restaurant would serve combinations like that nor will everyone at the dinner table be able to stomach those combinations. There is a solution that is now available that will sate tastebuds without turning stomachs.

Created by Canada-based company Molecule-R, the Aromafork uses smell to add additional tastes to our favorite dishes. Because so much of taste is based on our senses of smell (which is why food tastes different when we are congested), using smell gives this illusion of taste despite the fact that you are not ingesting any food. The fork comes with 21 different aromas, including smoke, vanilla, wasabi, cilantro, and coffee.

The diner first picks a flavor, uses a dropper to place a drop or two of the liquid onto a diffusing paper in a hole in the fork. From there, the diner can put whatever they want on the fork and enjoy the mixed flavor experience.

The Aromafork can be pre-ordered from the Molecule-R website for $58.95 for the Aroma R-Evolution pack with 4 forks and 21 aromas, or $24.95 for the Aromaspoon Plate Set with three spoons.
