More parents want a ‘supernanny’ to look after their children

Parents are wanting increasingly more experienced and highly qualified nannies to look after their children.

For generations, parents just wanted a nanny who would love their children. New research has found parents now expect much more.  Four fifths of families require a nanny with “additional skills” including cooking and the ability to play or teach a musical instrument.

Dogs have skills equivalent to 6-month old babies

Dogs who were spoken to or who had direct eye contact with a person were more likely to follow that human’s gaze.

Some dogs have the skills of a 6-month-old baby, according to a new report in Current Biology. Man’s best friend not only responds to the words and ministrations of humans, dogs can understand and anticipate the intentions of their people, researchers are reporting.

So Walmart has launched a green blog, The Green Room, “that we hope to develop into a vibrant conversation about helping people live better around the globe.” So says Andrea Thomas, who leads sustainability at Walmart.

U.S. cancer rates continue falling: American Cancer Society

Advances in cancer screening and treatment have prevented more than a million total deaths from cancer since the early 1990s.

U.S.cancer death rates are continuing to fall, dropping by 1.8 percent per year in men and 1.6 percent per year in women between 2004 and 2008, according to the American Cancer Society’s annual report on cancer statistics released on Wednesday.
