Foreign tourists could help the U.S. economy

Non-resident visitors to the United States wait in line at immigration control at a U.S. airport.

Businesses salivate over the kind of foreign traveler Agustina Ocamp is.  He is a  22-year-old Argentine who recently dropped more than $5,000 on food, hotels and clothes in Las Vegas during a trip that also took her to Seattle’s Space Needle, Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo. But she doubts she will return soon.

Shortages of medicines like Ritalin and Adderall are so endemic that some patients say they worry almost constantly about availability.

Drugs to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are in such short supply that hundreds of patients complain daily to the Food and Drug Administration that they are unable to find a pharmacy with enough pills to fill their prescriptions.

Amazon sold over 4 million Kindles in December, and E-Book sales are up 175 percent

The Kindle Fire is a holiday record breaker.

Amazon sent out a press release titled, “2011 is the Best Holiday Ever for Kindle” and looking at the numbers, it seems like a justified statement.

The company reports that there were over a million Kindle devices sold each week, with the Kindle Fire as the hottest item, the Kindle Touch following it up, and the plain old Kindle bringing up the rear…
