Breastaurant Phenomenon Booming in the U.S.

The very first Hooters opened its doors on April 1, 1983.

The term used to describe restaurants that feature scantily-clad women as waitresses,”breastaurants,” are poised to become one of the fastest-growing restaurant categories, according to Entrepreneur magazine. California To Be First U.S. State to Ban Styrofoam Containers

styrofoam-ban-california

Styrofoam takes forever to biodegrade, it clogs up waterways, and wildlife mistake it for food and ingest it.

The state Senate in California just voted to ban the sale of Styrofoam containers.  Restaurants and shops would be banned from distributing food in foam containers.  Californian’s takeout and sodas will have to be sold in more sustainable, or ideally, reusable containers. Some 50 municipalities in the state have already enacted such bans. If the measure passes the state Assembly, it will make California the first in the nation to ban styrofoam.

Berlin’s Hüttenpalast – Cool Camping Hotel Where Guests Sleep in Refurbished Campers

Hüttenpalast

Want a great concept for a new hotel?  Just  convert an old, unused vacuum factory space into a budget boutique hotel.  And even better, use refurbished mobile campers for rooms. Berlin’s new and attractive Hüttenpalast (that’s German for “hut palace”) has done just that.  It is in the beautiful old workers’ quarter of Neukölln: allowing guests to experience the cozy camping feeling, without the bugs and in the middle of a vibrant city. But it’s not exactly  ‘roughing it’ in the solitary sense.  The caravans are beautifully remodeled.  The bathrooms are “luxurious”.   And guests can socialize with each other without the rowdiness usually associated with cheap hostels. The smell of corruption is offending more than few nostrils

Futurist Thomas Frey:  Recent attempts by Congress and the Federal Reserve Board to curb the excessive fees being charged by credit cards, banks, and finance companies have resulted in a punitive industry response with interest rates and fees climbing in almost every category. The-Day-that-Google-Died-8311

Futurist Thomas Frey:  It was a frenzy of activity as workers scurried from office to office, making their final checks, gathering books, papers, and personal belongings. Many were still stunned over the announcement that Google was closing its doors. The final minutes before the deadline were reserved for tearful hugs and remorseful goodbyes, but for the people of the world these brief moments of stunned silence would soon be replaced with long term anger and outrage.
