Artificial intelligence is more dangerous than nuclear weapons: Elon Musk

robot

AI is something all of us should “keep an eye on.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk told CNBC back in June that he’d invested in a company called Vicarious that is developing products and services based on artificial intelligence. RoboBees will pollinate crops instead of real bees

robobee

As soon as 10 years from now these RoboBees could artificially pollinate a field of crops.

Honeybees pollinate nearly one-third of the food we eat but they have been dying at unprecedented rates because of a mysterious phenomenon known as colony collapse disorder (CCD). The situation is so dire that in late June the White House gave a new task force just 180 days to devise a coping strategy to protect bees and other pollinators. The crisis is generally attributed to a mixture of disease, parasites, and pesticides.

Will killing robots with artificial brains be unethical in the future?

robot

In the future it’s possible we will be able to create artificially human brains that emulate a real human.

Imagine that in hundreds of years in the future it becomes possible to create an exact replica of any human brain on Earth. How should the copy be treated? Should scientists be allowed to experiment on it and, ultimately, put it down if it is no longer needed? After all, it is merely artificial intelligence (AI).
